EastWest has inched a notch higher to fifth place in the credit card industry according to the 2013 first half report recently released by the Credit Card Association of the Philippines. This feat is attributed to EastWest’s outstanding performance in credit card accounts receivables as of end-June.

EastWest’s status in the industry was made possible by its first half 2013 efforts that helped make it one of local banking’s breakthrough performers.

In making good things happen for its customers, EastWest has teamed up with various partner merchants to offer its credit cardholders perks in dining, shopping, home essentials, and health & wellness.

Under its Instant Treats program, credit cardholders were treated to free treats from Red Ribbon and Max’s Restaurant. Its Perks Program included tie-ups with partner merchants such as Lacoste Footwear, Paris Hilton Bags & Accessories, Sun Cellular, Giordano, Olympus, GNC, Reebok, Manila Ocean Park, The Mind Museum, Loft Details, Healthway, Dermclinic and Cathy Valencia, among others.

The Bank’s elite cardholder base, meanwhile, was treated to a roster of posh privileges from InterContinental Manila, Bluewater Resorts, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Crimson Hotels, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila and Fuego Hotels.

EastWest also ensured that its year-round credit card installment initiatives such as Balance Transfer, Insta-Cash and Merchant Installment, and seasonal special payment programs including the Exclusive Installment Facility and the Payment Holiday Program were in place so as to continually boost usage across several cardholder segments.

Aside from the bank’s strong program lineup, EastWest was also recognized in the recent Visa Performance Awards. Its Visa Classic Credit Card variant was cited for three awards: 2012 Best Performer in Visa Classic Cards-in-Force Growth in the Philippines, 2012 Best Performer in Visa Classic Transaction Number Growth in the Philippines and 2012 Best Performer in Visa Classic Payment Volume Growth in the Philippines. The latter distinction was also received by the Bank for 2011.

Individuals who are interested to apply for a credit card may contact EastWest’s 24-Hour Customer Service Hotline at 888-1700, or may log on to https://ewb.azurewebsites.net/. Applicants may also visit any EastWest store nationwide.

EastWest opened its doors to the public on August 1, 1994. The bank is a subsidiary of the Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC), the publicly listed holding company of the Filinvest Group that evolved from a consumer business founded by Andrew L. Gotianun, Sr. in 1955. FDC is one of the country’s premier conglomerates, with business interests in real estate, banking, sugar, hospitality and tourism, and power-generation. Through the years, EastWest Bank has successfully capitalized on the financial strength and synergy from the business organizations under the Filinvest Group. As it continues to register strong business performance, EastWest remains committed in making good things happen for its clients.
